Starting from public information of bid for planning and construction of the Public Procurement Service, KINTEX sets about the 2nd step of construction in earnest.
With total construction budget of USD 360 million, the 2nd construction targets June of 2011 as its completion, KINTEX is planning to go for the 2nd ground-breaking scheduled for December this year after completing its construction-project presentation, facility-design drawing discussion and selection process of final designing contractor.
Dr. Joon Woo Han, former EVP of KOTRA, was officially inaugurated as the 4th President & CEO of KINTEX, July in 2008. Dr. Han in his inaugural speech said he would focus on producing diversified KINTEX-brand businesses in an effort to make it a world-renown global show venue of excellent hardware and software.
KINTEX has officially announced back on March 3, 2008 that it has successfully made the first year of the black-ink balance in its operation since the grand opening in 2005, which was successfully facilitated 1 year earlier than its original plan.
This result was made possible by maximizing the scale, internationalizing and co-locating of shows while taking various international business initiatives
KINTEX was awarded KMAC's top customer service award for its service renovation effort
for the first time among all convention centers of Korea. It was made possible through the newly established CS team's continuous efforts in improving service quality since July of 2005
KINTEX, the leading Exhibition & Convention center of Korea, officially launched its corporate vision of 'Global Standard 2013' in April, 2007. In this ceremony, KINTEX announced its new corporate vision, slogan, company anthem, mission statement to the attendees comprised of KINTEX staff, central & local government officials, industry partners
At the 4th Board meeting, the company name of the Korea International Exhibition Center was officially changed into KINTEX after getting an approval of modification of the article of incorporation
At the 73rd UFI annual congress held in Nov., 2006, CEO & president of KINTEX, Mr. In-Shik Kim was voted one of the Board of Directors of UFI
EKim In-shik, a former head of KOTRA's trade promotion division, took office as the third president of KINTEX.
In his inaugural speech, Kim said he would do everything in his power to ensure that KINTEX would play a pivotal role in developing Korea 's exhibition industry.
On April 29, 2005 , following the completion of the first-phase construction project, KINTEX opened with a great vision.
In his congratulatory speech at the inaugural ceremony, President Roh Moo-hyun said the Korean government would provide active support to help foster the nation's exhibition-convention industry as one of its strategic industries.
 
Hong Ki-hwa, former vice president of KOTRA, took office as the new CEO of KINTEX.
In his inaugural speech, Hong expressed his intention to concentrate on attracting as many world-class specialized exhibitions to the center as possible, thus fostering KINTEX as a trade and marketing arena for Korea 's leading companies.
The historic groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of KINTEX was held, with about 1,000 people from all walks of life attending.
The participants included such prominent figures as the Gyeonggi Province governor, the Goyang mayor and the KOTRA president, whose presence indicated the high hopes the national government and related organizations had for KINTEX. The participants shared the view that when inaugurated after two more years of construction work, KINTEX would help Korea secure its position as a trade hub in Northeast Asia .
 
At last, ˇ°KINTEX Incˇ± was founded. At the first board of directors meeting, Oh Young-kyo was designated as its CEO and other executive directors were appointed.
And, after the Articles of Incorporation were approved and the organization's directors and supervisors were also appointed
by the ˇ°General Assemblyˇ± of the promoters,
KINTEX began its business with the goal of becoming the world's best exhibition center.
