A new year of hope has just begun. I wish a healthy
and happy new year to all the readers of the "KINTEX
News."
KINTEX will make its first strong
step this coming April. The opening of KINTEX,
the largest domestic special exhibition center,
will become the catalyst for the advancement of
the Korean exhibition and convention industries
towards the world.
Nowadays,
countries around the world are striving
to foster the exhibition industry, the higher
value-added, national strategic industry
for the 21st century. This field’s leaders
are Japan and Germany. The Chinese exhibition
industry has also progressed more than 20%
annually for the last 10 years. The exhibition
industry makes a more economic impact now
with its fusion with the manufacturing industry.
An exhibition is more than merely a way
of sales and promotion. It is rather a place
of international technical exchanges and
the driving force of the regional industries.

The exhibition industry also has dynamic effects
upon an income increase and job creations. The rate
of foreign exchange earnings of the exhibition industry
was 88.1%, more than double that of the semiconductor
industry. The exhibition industry also significantly
contributed to the job creating area.
Now we finally have a world-best exhibition center,
KINTEX, which will open prominent exhibitions, including
the 2005 Seoul Motor Show, the Korea Construction
Equipment Exhibition 2005, the Korea Electronics
Show 2005 and the Seoul Food 2005. The Smart Home
Show and the International Road & Traffic Expo
will also make KINTEX full of excitement in its
opening year. Especially, the Seoul Motor Show,
which will be an opening exhibition for KINTEX,
has secured numerous participants from among the
world-best automobile companies and parts makers.
As the show is expected to attract more than a million
viewers, KINTEX will make groundbreaking changes
in the Northeast Asian exhibition industry.
Moreover, KINTEX will become the motivating power
to fortify Korea’s national competitiveness linked
to the high-tech industrial cluster of Gyeonggi
Province. The automobile parts, IT-LCD, and biotechnology
industries of Gyeonggi Province are looking forward
to the opening of KINTEX. Gyeonggi Province is now
constructing a large compound to assist facilities
around KINTEX. This is being done in order that
KINTEX can fully realize its potential. Gyeonggi
Province will always do its best to support the
successful opening and operation of KINTEX.
