A hopeful new year has just begun and I wish you
comfort and happiness, and pray that your businesses
will be fruitful in 2005.
I think this year will see the master plan of
our beautiful Goyang City, the best future city
of growth industry in Korea, beginning to be realized.
Right at this moment, the best way to foster art
& culture, tourism and high-tech industries
in Goyang City is to progress as a self-fulfilling
city. That’s why we developed this City
as a world flower city by hosting the World Flower
Exhibition Goyang, Korea. Goyang City is also
changing into a city of art and culture; we have
built the Goyang Stadium with its 42,000 seats
and the largest and best compound of cultural
facilities in Korea: the Goyang Sport Complex
& Park and the Hanmoe ARAM Complex. We have
chosen KINTEX as the most important industrial
infrastructure and proceeded to nourish this city
to make it "a hub of Korean culture &
tourism" as we turning this into an international
exhibition-convention city.

The Korean
exhibition industry can yield knowledge-intensive,
environment friendly and high added values.
Plus, it has great pervasive effects upon
the related industries, including culture,
tourism, transportation and communication.
So, the exhibition industry is estimated
to be the most relevant option for the conditions
of Goyang City. The exhibition and convention
industries are the major means of international
marketing, and a large international exhibition
center is an essential infrastructure to
promote trade. Especially, as Korea highly
depends upon trade, international exhibition

centers are all the more important. KINTEX, which
unveils its great appearance in April, will be a
"key word" for the high-end future industries
of Goyang City.
KINTEX was constructed with three steps in mind.
After the first step is completed in April, it will
offer 53,541㎡ of exhibition area. This equals the
size of six soccer fields and it is 1.5 times bigger
than the second largest one in Korea. When the third
step of construction comes to an end in 2013, KINTEX
will become an extra-large exhibition center with
178,513㎡ of exhibition space with 330,580㎡ in ground
area.
Around KINTEX, there will be constructed an exhibition
support zone of 429,752?. A Chinatown, numerous
and various hotels, an airport terminal as well
as an assortment of business buildings will be there,
along with shopping malls and an aquarium. The spectacular
musical fountain, becoming a nationwide celebrated
locality since its construction in April 2004, is
also a part of this exhibition support complex.
Only in 2005, KINTEX will hold more than 28 international
exhibitions and conferences, including the Seoul
Motor Show 2005 and the ACF 2005, and the TOP 5
domestic exhibitions. The axis of the Korean exhibition
and convention industries are moving toward KINTEX.
